“I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think” – Rumi
Singing Mamas is on break and will start again on Monday, May 4th in Zürich Seefeld and Thursday, May 7th in Herrliberg!
Come sing in a circle filled with songs for the soul. Women of all ages and stages are welcome. We sing simple harmony songs from around the world taught by ear. No singing experience required! What are the benefits of singing for well-being?
When we sing, we can’t help but feel good. It’s a healing experience for the soul.
Feel, Focus & Flow
Singing helps you tune into your emotions, grounding you in the present moment.
Breathe
Deep breaths while singing promote relaxation and better oxygen flow.
Connect
Using your voice and vibration strengthens the bond with yourself, your body and others (i.e. your baby).
Reduce stress
Singing reduces tension, helping to lower stress levels and calm your mind.
Lift mood
The joy of singing releases feel-good hormones, enhancing your emotional well-being.
What are some benefits of singing for perinatal women?
During pregnancy
Babies instinctively prefer the voice of their mother. Singing during pregnancy is a wonderful way to start building a bond with your baby that continues after birth.
Babies begin to develop their hearing around the fifth month of pregnancy. As their development continues, their hearing becomes increasingly refined, and soon they also respond to external sounds. They can feel the internal vibration generated by the singing mother, which has a calming effect.
During birth
Repetitive singing over an extended period allows us to enter a flow state—something that can be crucial during childbirth. Especially singing rhythmic, repetitive songs helps us to disconnect from our ‘thinking’ brain.
Singing also releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. These endorphins are also released during childbirth when the mother is undisturbed.
After birth
Singing promotes the release of oxytocin, a hormone that plays a crucial role in childbirth and bonding. This strengthens the emotional connection between mother and child and supports overall well-being. Oxytocin has a powerful effect on the feeling of closeness and connection.
Singing has also been clinically proven to be effective in alleviating symptoms of postnatal depression.
I’m not a confident singer — is that okay?
More than okay. There is no experience needed, no pressure, and no judgement. We sing for connection, not performance or perfection.
Everyone has a voice, and every voice is welcome!
Who can join Singing Mamas?
Anyone who identifies with the role of mother is welcome. This includes:
- pregnant women
- new moms
- moms of toddlers, school‑age kids, or teens
- moms whose children are grown
- caretakers (you don’t have to be a mother yourself)
- grandmothers
- any woman who carries a mothering role in their life
If you feel connected to the word “mother,” you belong here.

Do I need to have a baby with me?
No. Babies and toddlers are welcome, but not required. Some women come alone for a moment of peace. Some bring little ones. All are equally welcome.
Is this only for new moms?
Not at all. Singing Mamas is intentionally multi‑generational. We believe that mothers at every stage have wisdom, stories, and presence that enrich the group.
Testimonials
“I can wholeheartedly recommend Singing Mamas! With her warm and open manner, Chantal creates a wonderful feel-good atmosphere where you can simply be yourself. Even if you don’t usually sing or don’t feel confident about it, you never feel embarrassed or uncomfortable here… The sessions are genuinely uplifting and help you get through days that might otherwise feel a bit heavy. The exchange with the other mums and mums-to-be afterwards is incredibly valuable and strengthening… Thank you, dear Chantal!”
“I have been attending Singing Mamas during my pregnancy. I really enjoy the sessions to sing, relax and connect to my baby. I am not a natural singer, but I enjoy the group singing led by Chantal’s beautiful voice. The meetups are inspirational and uplifting!”
